Why Morgan Wallen Shouldn’t be Canceled.
My favorite music artist is Morgan Wallen. I love all of his songs and don’t think he could ever write a bad song. Every single one is soo good. I have been a huge fan of him since high school and do not understand why people hate on him. He has many fans, as his shows this past tour were sold out or almost sold out at every venue. However, he still has haters. I understand every celebrity has them, but he doesn’t deserve to. Aside from being a good singer and good father to his three-year-old son, he also gives back to the community. He has set up the Morgan Wallen Foundation, and their main goal is to support programs for the youth in sports and music, as well as help communities during times of crisis, ensuring access to food, critical supplies, and more. He started this foundation just two years ago and has already donated millions. On his tour in 2022, he supplied 500,000 meals across the tour stops to help combat food insecurity during natural disasters in the US.
Even while doing all of this, people will try and find a way to cancel him, like recently spreading rumors that he had a drinking problem and was in rehab, and that was the reason for putting his “One Night at a Time” tour on hold. This was not the case; he had issues with his vocal cords, and doctors said he needed to rest, or he could never sing again.
I will always defend him because he is such a nice guy and does so much for others and his fans. He does not deserve the hate or cancellation threats. Half the time, people complaining about him do much worse or try to make a big deal out of little things. Overall, he is my favorite artist, and I love all his music. Anyone who does not like him or thinks he should be canceled is wrong.

My mom has always told me that famous musicians and actors are amazing at what they do, yet they have done awful things in the past or have poor morals that people seem to forget about. Celebrities are always in the spotlight but are often “canceled” for things that don’t matter, yet the awful things they do are hidden, and people pretend they didn’t happen. One example of this is Chris Brown. He has amazing music, and his songs are catchy and fun to dance to. But he has done many awful things. His abuse of Rihanna is one of the most controversial things that he has done. Yet still, people give him millions daily just by listening to his music or watching his videos. Morgan Wallen is another one of these examples. He made a huge mistake when saying a word he shouldn’t have and getting caught saying it on camera. Many people said his career should end and that he was an awful person for drunkenly saying one word. Yes, it is wrong, and he should have never said the word, but how come Chris Brown is still rolling in cash? Releasing music? Did everyone just forget about his recurring domestic violence charges? It isn’t only women. He has a multitude of violence charges that everyone has just swept under the rug. Another example of celebrities not receiving repercussions would be Justin Timberlake. Since the release of Britany Spears’s book, she has brought to light all the awful things that have happened to her. Including how terrible Justin was to her. He also pressured her into an abortion that Britany didn’t want to happen. He told her he wasn’t ready to be a father; therefore, she had to have an abortion. So on the never-ending list of awful crap celebrities have done, id say Morgan Wallen is far off from the worse. Therefore, the cancel culture surrounding him is absurd, and there is literally no reason for it. Your response shows that he is working hard to be a great person. Therefore, cancel culture is stupid because people continue to forget about the past and attack new people.
I don’t know anything about Morgan Wallen, I don’t think country music is good. But I do know the reason he’s being cancelled is because of his public use of the N word. Wallen even admits to his use of the racial slur in interviews. Within three minutes of googling the man I found a TMZ video from 2021 of Wallen saying, “take care of this p**** ass n****r.” One could argue that because he appears to be drunk in the video maybe he wasn’t in his right mind, but, that does sound like he may actually have a drinking problem. And a drinking problem that changes your morals enough to yell racial profanities in the middle of the street may be cancel worthy. As a Morgan Wallen fan, I’m sure you will find excuses for this behavior. However, I think it’s important to question your heroes and think critically about their actions. Furthermore- while I commend him for his philanthropy… he apparently has paid less than a third of the $500k he promised to donate to black nonprofit groups after his apology for his use of the N word. The rolling stones has reported that he only made one donation to a black charity group. Contrary to popular belief Wallen actually gained success after the controversial N word video. Shockingly, his fans loved his behavior so much that he actually made over two million dollars in sales in the days following that video. Only 8% of that money was donated. While I am trying to hit a word count I think I’ve made my point. In summation, Morgan Wallen likes to get drunk and call people the N word in public, that behavior does not align with my personal moral high ground but that’s just my opinion, But Wallen is being cancelled for being racist. Not for being an alcoholic.
