Consumerism relates to environmental issues because it is killing our environment more and more every day. Since demand for items, products, and services is increasing, production needs to increase as well in order to keep up. With production going up there is an increase in buildings/factories that are needed to make the actual product, or even opening up another location if it is a service. Each building or factory adds more pollution to the air, which decreases the air quality over time. It also causes deforestation because of all the trees, and land that gets cut down for new factories and expansion. That then affects the wildlife because their homes and habitats are changing, and they need to adapt to new locations. Going along with adapting to new locations all of these previous factors play a role in climate change which affects not only the animals who need to then relocate to stay alive but also everyone on Earth because it changes how we live.
My product can impact the environment in a way many people might not know about. This is a body fragrance, so the purpose of it is to spray and make you smell good. What people do not know is that each spray you do contains volatile organic compounds (VOCs). So, however, many times you spray yourself in the morning before work, or throughout the day these compounds are entering the air, and they react with the sunlight and other chemicals in the atmosphere to form ozone pollution.
